The Power of Parker Season 2 Storyline:
Conleth Hill, Gibson, & Rosie Cavaliero starred in the six-episode comedy series Power of Parker created by Sian Gibson & Paul Coleman. Hill plays the titular Parker, who employs several ruses to keep things going smoothly until his good fortune runs out and he must deal with the repercussions of his choices.
Given his behavior, Martin Parker, a charming guy who cares much about his social standing, isn’t precisely the protagonist of this tale. Here’s a thorough examination of his personality to determine whether or not he ultimately experiences atonement.
For lack of a better term, Martin Parker was self-centered. He has led two lives for the last twenty-five years of his marriage. Martin has been having an affair for such a long time that his mistress is preparing for their 25th wedding anniversary when the show’s events begin.
The worst part of it all was the fact that Martin continued his relationship with Katherine, his wife’s sister, behind Diane’s back for 25 years while keeping it a secret from her.
This is maybe the worst sort of infidelity because not only does the cheater betray the confidence of their partner, who has loved him or her with all of their heart for the last 2.5 decades, but they also betray the trust of their partner’s sister.
The disclosure of this crucial story fact, the sisters’ discovery that they were sharing beds with the exact same guy, and their ensuing argument are all played off as amusing happenings since that is a comedy.
The unpleasant part is that it’s a very likely occurrence that might have occurred in a number of houses, and those households were ever the same again.
Martin has yet another issue developing, blissfully oblivious of the entente growing between his wife & his girlfriend behind the scenes to bring him down.
Martin had obtained several loans from shady people, who were only three youngsters, with the oldest being no more than 19, to support his extravagant lifestyle, which included paying Katherine’s rent and other expenditures. Martin’s dues increased along with his, but he had only himself to blame.
Nobody had challenged him to overspend and cruise around town in a top-down red Benz, but in an effort to maintain his facade of importance, he spend a lot of money he didn’t have.
Martin took out all his rage on the wrong person when the lenders started knocking and his father’s firm was unable to generate profits.
Martin would no longer even be eligible for a loan since Alan, an accountant for Parker’s Electricals, had failed to maintain the books in order. He resolved to dismiss Alan to vent his rage, but all that happened was Martin lost the last person left who could have prevented his ship from sinking.
Instead, the businessman made a foe who wanted nothing more than to see Martin fail, and he was prepared to provide Diane and Kath crucial information about the ownership of the firm to that end.
Because they had been appointed stockholders, the two ladies were assured they could simply take over Martin’s company, and that is exactly what they intended to do.
The ladies made the decision to steal the one things Martin valued: his company, realizing that it was Martin’s turn to pay for betraying his wife and dumping his girlfriend without warning when he couldn’t no longer afford the bills.
Martin hadn’t quite gotten go of his attitude, however, and when the girls’ father as well as his father-in-law, Dougie, visited his shop to pick on Martin, the younger man flattened the older one.
What may have happened quite differently if Martin hadn’t been constantly gaining himself yet another enemy who would come mock him and rejoice at his collapse in a few days when he would reach rock bottom? At this time, the only thing left for him to cling to was getting a position as the rotary club’s treasurer with the help of the secretary & his buddy Sandy.
Unfortunately, Martin squandered the chance even before it was presented to him when his wife got intoxicated and spilt the beans about their financial crisis.
His last humiliation came when his wife and lover revealed all of his secrets to them in the bank, shattering his reputation as a “upstanding citizen” and leaving Martin with no one else to blame.
Martin sat at his desk that evening as every failure in his life whirled back and forth in his head before the Slater Brother arrived to demolish his shop and maybe kill his life. As the Slaters began destroying everything in the shop, he turned a lighter fluid tellingly in his palm.
Before seeing the file labeled “insurance,” he was just opening the shareholder file & seen a message from Kath apologizing for stealing his company.
Before using the lighter fluid, it was evident that his next course of action would be to fax the documents to Diane Parker, the mom of his children and his longtime wife of 25 years.
Martin was an egotistical & haughty guy, and it couldn’t have been simple for him to decide to fire down Parker’s Electricals. He rejected several duties that he thought were beneath him because he was too concerned with maintaining his social status. As a result, he committed insurance fraud by deliberately establishing fire to his own company.
