The Tick Season 3: Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Trailer Release, and Everything You Need to Know

Season 3 of Ben Edlund’s The Tick, a superhero show, ended about a year ago. But why? In 1986, cartoonist Ben Edlund created The Tick, a monster superhero newsletter. The serial was so successful that it was adapted into a comic book in 1988. There were two previous adaptations of the show prior to its 2016 debut: an animated series in 1994 and a live-action film in 2001. The Tick, a television adaptation of the comic book franchise, premiered on Amazon in 2016.

The show centers on a blue tick-suited superhero who is almost indestructible and battles crime. He can’t recall his life before becoming a superhero or the many other identities he’s assumed. He’s supposedly legally crazy and a fugitive from a mental institution, according to the original comic series. This was not addressed in the episode. The Tick’s style, which is a satire of superhero shows, was very well received by viewers. Where does Season 3 of The Tick stand after two seasons? Read on for the whole scoop!

The Tick Season 3 Renewal Status

The first season of The Tick aired in three parts, beginning with the pilot on August 18, 2016 and continuing with a “half-season” of five episodes on August 25, 2017 and the remaining six episodes on February 23, 2018. A second season was commissioned by Amazon and debuted on April 5, 2019. Six weeks later, Amazon made the decision to pull the plug on the show.

No explanation was ever given, although I imagine it had something to do with ratings. Amazon Video, like many other streaming platforms, does not make ratings public; nonetheless, the show’s generally favorable reaction suggests that low viewership was the primary factor in the decision to discontinue The Tick.

The Tick Season 3 Release Date

The Tick has been officially canceled by Amazon. The Tick’s second season will be the last. Amazon has not announced any intentions for a second season, but anything is possible. Season three has not been scheduled as of October 2023.

The Tick Season 3: Why was it canceled?

Amazon has not said why they decided to discontinue the program, although it presumably has something to do with low ratings. Amazon, like other streaming services, doesn’t disclose its ratings to the public, but given the positive response The Tick received, it’s safe to assume that it did well. When compared to the first season, the second season received an astounding 100% rotten tomatoes. Every review I read praised the show’s likeability, authenticity, wit, and plenty of exciting moments.

The show had acquired a strong fan following, but it wasn’t substantial enough for Amazon to order a second season. A show would be cancelled if viewership numbers fell short of expectations. Overall, critics praised the program for offering a new perspective on the superhero genre, especially in comparison to the more serious approach used by Marvel and DC.

He partners up with a shy and mild-mannered young guy called Arthur. In the second season, the heroes have defeated the villains, but with one superhero comes a legion of villains. To combat this, a new organization has emerged to provide employment for superheroes, and our heroes are eager to accept these positions.

Season 3’s plot, if it were created, would have delved into Tick’s backstory, but Ben Edlund’s absence made that impossible. In the meanwhile, we’ll keep you updated on whether or not we can expect to see the pair return.
