A few days ago Warner Bros. released the first official trailer of The Conjuring: By Order of the Devil, the new chapter of the lucky one horror saga created by James Wan, who this time has decided to entrust the direction of the film to Michael Chaves.
The video is full of captivating moments that bode well for this sequel, such as the scenes of Lorraine Warren wandering through the woods or the sequence of the child (played by the very young Julian Hilliard who recently appeared in WandaVision), but the fans it will certainly not have escaped the genre splendid homage to The Exorcist.
At about 1 minute and 47 seconds of the video, which you can view at the bottom of the article, there is in fact a shot that recalls in all respects thearrival of the priest by Max Von Sydow in William Friedkin’s masterpiece, starting from the almost identical clothing up to the way he sets his destination in the dark of night. The scene in question, as many of you already know, was used to create the iconic poster of The Exorcist, a film to which The Conjuring (and in general the whole genre of demonic possession) obviously owes a lot.
