The murder mystery series “Fool Me Once” on Netflix explores the mysterious reappearance of Maya Stern’s late husband. Joe Burkett, Maya’s husband, dies in a botched robbery when she is out for a late-night stroll in the park.
But when she sees a film of Joe who is said to be returning from the dead playing with their kid on her daughter’s nanny cam, she begins to question what happened that night.
Officer Sami, the primary detective on Joe’s investigation, and the affluent Burkett family, who have many secrets of their own, both ignore Maya’s worries and attribute her paranoia to the shock she felt after the murders of Joe and Claire, her sister.

Fool Me Once Season 2 Storyline:
The second episode of Fool Me Once opens with a reminiscence of Maya’s time working at a soldier’s post. Afterwards, Joe calls her to tell her that Claire has been through a horrible ordeal. While Maya was grieving her sister’s death, Joe gently consoled her, and she swiftly returned home.
Attempting to establish a link between the killings of Clair and Joe, Detective Kierce and Marty remain at Maya’s residence at this time. Claire and Joe’s connection is the subject of further inquiries by Detective Kierce. Both of them got along well, according to Maya. Clearly, she and her partner were not engaged in an extramarital affair.
After finishing their interrogation, the investigators quickly depart. As they are leaving, Detective Kiece is taken aback to learn that Marty fabricated the story of being married when interviewing Maya. He tells the rookie cop that lying is terrible police work and tells him to quit.
The next day, Maya leaves Lily at a nearby daycare before heading to the office. Nevertheless, the fresh clue about the firearm continues to occupy her thoughts. She plans to see Eva at her apartment to inquire about anything.
Although Maya spent a lot of time away from home for work, she thinks Eva would have a better grasp of Claire’s life before her murder. Maya can count on Eva’s support, despite her own problems with her irrational ex.
Eva revealed that Claire exhibited some unusual behavior in the weeks preceding her passing. Lunch with Claire is something she remembers. Suddenly, Claire’s demeanor shifted after receiving an enigmatic call on her throwaway phone.
She seemed anxious as she excused herself to answer the phone. Maya is furious because Eva kept quiet about Claire’s burner phone and the fact that she never pressed Claire to provide further details about the conversation.
Eva says she didn’t want to bring shame on her family following Claire’s death because she was afraid she was having an affair. After Maya scolds her, she departs.
Meanwhile, Detective Kierce has a meeting with his AAA sponsor, Nicole. She tells him he has to see a physician, and she scolds him for skipping their sessions. Kierce is worried that he could lose his employment if he finds out about the situation. He should go to a private hospital, Nicole says.
Maya leaves Eva’s home and goes to Claire’s to see where her sister has kept her hidden stash. Unfortunately, the burner phone was dead when she discovered it.
Eddie walks in, says she has to go immediately, and gives him the phone. His anger and tears intensify when Maya inquires about Claire’s infidelity.
Although he insists that Claire was not having an affair, he does acknowledge that they were estranged when she passed away. Eddie rejects Maya’s request to remove the phone, and Maya swiftly subdues him before she departs.
Upon his pursuit, she has already gotten in her car and is on her way. The conversation piques Claire’s interest, and her daughter quickly wants to know what phone her father is talking about.
Eddie attempts to reassure the youngster as she begins to have more questions. By his side, the children are free to peruse their mother’s belongings.
They unearth mementos from Claire’s adolescence. After stumbling onto a camera, they make the decision to publish the images. They find out that their mother was pregnant before their birth because of this.
Marty and Kierce are still investigating the two killings and their potential motivations at the station. Kierce believes the nanny, Izabella, could have the answers. Working for the Burketts may have given her a glimpse or a clue.
When they go to see the nanny, she claims that Maya is hallucinating about her husband’s death and has gone insane. Her story is that Maya unexpectedly assaulted her, and she insists she didn’t take the SD.
Regarding Joe and Claire’s affair, she denies ever having been involved. Joe loved his wife deeply, but she thought he was too perfect for Maya. My goodness!
Just in case, Maya had the functional pistol on hand, and it was ultimately necessary to fire it. She shot Joe in the chest after learning he was a murderer and being afraid for her life.
At first, however, she staged a heist in which she injured him; then, she used the blood to make it seem as if she had held him tenderly as he died.
The sight of a group of children riding motorcycles around the park was something Maya reported to the authorities. Maya anticipated that by framing the riders as victims of the alleged “robbery gone wrong,” they would refocus their attention and inquiry elsewhere.
As a result of one of the bikers having seen Maya shoot Joe, the truth would eventually come out. That much was obvious to her, but the plot fortunately delayed her realization of the larger issue: why Joe had murdered her sister Claire.
Maya Stern, played by Michelle Keegan, is a widow attempting to accept the terrible death of her husband, Joe, played by Richard Armitage, in Fool Me Once. She sets up a nanny cam to monitor her little kid, but is taken aback when she spots a familiar face—the spouse she believed had passed away in her home.
