Blade Runner Black Lotus Season 2 Storyline:
Elle, the series’ new heroine (played by Jessica Henwick in the English dub & Arisa Shida in the Japanese), is a replicant who plays a significant part in the events leading up to “Blade Runner 2049.”
Voice actors such Josh Duhamel (“Transformers”), Barkhad Abdi (“Captain Phillips,” “Blade Runner 2049”), and the incomparable Brian Cox (“Succession,” “Manhunter,” “Braveheart,” “Supertroopers”) will complement Henwick’s work.
The virtual panel at New York Comic Con was joined by co-directors Shinji Aramaki as well as Kenji Kamiyama, executive producer Joseph Chou, futurist Maurice Conti, and others who discussed the likelihood of a future Earth resembling the one observed in the “Blade Runner” universe and the profound impact that Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” visual aesthetic has had on young Japanese filmmakers. Here you will find the full transcript of the panel.
There is a lot of secrecy around the plot of Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Elle is a female replicant made for some mysterious and top-secret reason.
This may imply just about anything, but with a cast that includes high-class Angelenos, new and seasoned Blade Runners, or black marketeers working out of a junkyard, it seems probable that the film will explore many different aspects of the Blade Runner universe.
It’s October 2032, and Elle has no idea how she ended up in the back of a transport wagon with a black lotus tattoo over her shoulder. She has an encrypted data devices with her as she travels to Los Angeles.
A gang threatens her as she aimlessly wanders the city, prompting her to recall her past and ultimately her identity. Elle is given directions to a strange structure as her memory of her neighborhood kicks in, and she finds herself in front of Doc Badger’s store. When Elle’s assailants burst in, they ask Doc whether he saw her or the data gadget and he says no.
After they depart, Elle begs Doc if he could unlock the gadget, since she feels it would help her recall her memories. If she can keep him safe from the gang, he’ll provide a hand.
Elle approaches the group, knocks them out, kills the ringleader, and orders the remainder to leave Doc alone. The memory of the guy assaulting her on the desert returns, and she kills him again.
Elle goes back to Doc’s business, and he tells her that he can’t figure out how to decipher the gadget. He assures her, nevertheless, that a neighbor who lives on the upper floor could know of a solution. They go up to the penthouse and find Joseph passed on his sofa after drinking too much.
Joseph is awakened by Elle and Doc, who present him with the encrypted data devices. He finally gives up and offers to help us decipher it.
While Joseph decrypts it, Elle examines the television, which displays the meeting between Senator Bannister & Niander Wallace, Sr. Bannister is someone she knows from the desert where she was the target of a manhunt.
She takes the computer and bolts out of the flat. Elle finds down Bannister and borrows a cab to chase him when he boards a spinner. She tracks him down to the boxing ring, where she breaks through his protection to confront him in a VIP balcony.
Bannister reveals Elle’s replicant status, prompting a physical altercation. After reliving being the target of Bannister’s persecution and proclaiming her humanity, Elle eventually manages to throw him from the balcony, where he dies.
Wallace Sr. meets with Niander Wallace Jr. at the Wallace Company offices to discuss his son’s stagnant memory improvement efforts. A phone call informs Wallace Sr. of Bannister’s death.
Meanwhile, Officers Alani Davis shows up at the murder scene. Elle’s tattoo catches her eye, and she attempts to dissuade Elle, but she eventually gives up and goes to explore.
A second police officer later gives pursuit to Elle, but she gets away into an alley. In the back alley, Elle gets a disturbing and realistic flashback to when she and other replicants were being chased by humans. Then she sees Joseph coming toward her. He pulls out a revolver, shoots her in the head, and knocks her out.
