Outlander Season 7 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Everything You Need to Know
This year, Starz gave us some amazing gifts for Christmas. They showed our first trailer, poster, or release date for Seven seasons of Outlander. The TV show is based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling Outlander book series. It tells the tale of Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a nurse in World War II who is mysteriously sent back in time to Scotland in 1743 and starts a new life there.
Even though Outlander starts in Scotland, these same Frasers had already moved to America by Season 6 to start a new life. Last season, as the American Revolution was about to start, the family fought to remain together even as different political groups tried to pull them into their brutal battle. Love wins in the end, and even though the Frasers have to go through a lot to be happy, the family stays together and is healthy.
Just a few days before Christmas, Starz gave Outlander enthusiasts an early gift by confirming that spring seven is coming. In April, the streaming service said that filming for the new episodes had begun, but since then, nothing has been said about when the new series will start.
Well, it’s that period of year again, Sassenachs. Season 6 of Outlander, which was too short but had a lot of action, ended on May 1. Since then, fans have been thinking about our feared Droughtlander.
Even though the end of Season 6 of Outlander left viewers with a lot of questions that will have to be answered in Season 7, there is still a lot we don’t know about what to anticipate if Claire, Jamie, Young Ian, and the rest of their other friends, family, and enemies return to Starz.
So, what do humans know about Season 7 of Outlander? If you feel like you don’t know what’s going to happen in the next set of episodes of this hit time-travel show packed with some of the sexiest romantic scenes ever seen on TV, don’t worry! We’ve put together a nice list of everything we understand about the next installment.
When it was declared that Season 6 would only consist of eight episodes, pretty much just about every fan was a little bit sad. This was because of the pandemic as well as star Caitriona Balfe’s pregnancy.
But! This turned out to be good news for Season 7 of Outlander, which will be bigger than usual to compensate for the lack of episodes in Season 6. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts confirmed this. Whenever the new episodes come out, there will be a total of 16 of them!
Outlander Season 7 Release Date
Season 7 of Outlander doesn’t have a set release date yet, but a teaser trailer from Starz in December 2022 said it would come out in the summer of 2023.
Outlander Season 7 Cast
Identification of “ told Us in June 2022, “You have a ton of new characters emerging inside or characters that I consider fans are looking forward to, like Jamie Fraser’s son, but also a lot of brand-new characters.” Izzy Meikle-Small plays Rachel Hunter, and Joey Phillips plays Denzell Hunter.
William Ransom is also a new character (Charles Vandervaart). William hasn’t appeared since he was just a kid, but in season 7, Jamie’s estranged son will show up as an adult. “Charles does a decent job. I must say that he is a very handsome boy. Too good looking. “I tried to get someone to fired on his very first day, but I didn’t succeed,” jokes the author of Clan Lands.

Outlander Season 7 Plot
Even though we don’t know what the official plot summary for Outlander season 7 is, we do know that it’s based on An Echo in the Bone, the seventh novel in the series. Keeping this in mind, we could indeed start to figure out what the next chapter will be about.
Gabaldon gives a summary of the book on her website: “This book has four main storylines: Jamie and Claire, Roger and Brianna (and their family), Lord John and William, and Young Ian. All of these stories come together in the middle of the American Revolution, and they all have sharp points.”
The book says that we will still follow this same Fraser family in the 1700s, right in the middle of the American Revolution. Jamie will also become more and more involved in the conflict as time goes on. If everything goes as planned in the book, our brave hero will end up on the other side of the battlefield, fighting against his old friend Lord John and Lord John’s “son” (cough, cough) William.
It should also be pointed out that the Netflix show isn’t known for sticking to the Outlander book timeline to the letter. Like the seasons past of Outlander, we don’t know which part of the book will be used for the show. There may also be parts from of the sixth book, “A Breath of Snow as well as Ashes,” and the eighth book, “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.”
Since Denzell and Rachel Hunter will be making their first appearances in the new series, it is likely that some parts of a seventh Outlander book, An Echo in the Bone, will also be used.
In this book and later ones, the Hunter siblings change things for the Spencer family in many ways, but Little Ian’s love for Rachel is a major plot point. But Rachel isn’t the only one who gets in trouble with the family. Denzell ends up capturing the gaze of Dottie, Lord John’s niece, who decides to join the family pretending to be in love with William.
Claire is in jail in Wilmington and could be tried for killing Malva Christie, Tom Christie’s daughter. She could be sentenced to death by hanging if she is found guilty. On the other hand, Jamie was just saved from Richard Brown’s Committee, and he is now on his way to save her with Young Ian and John Quincy Myers, likely planning another prison break.
The Fraser family will face a lot more danger in the future. As Claire showed up in Wilmington at the end of season six, a sign of the growing tensions in the country, and season 7 will show how close the Revolutionary War is getting to Fraser’s Ridge. An Echo inside the Bone, the seventh book by Diana Gabaldon, is set between 1776 and 1778. The Independence Act has been signed on August 4, 1776, and the war lasted until 1783.
